S.P.I. Trigger Warning!

Trigger Warning! Spokane Pro Israel could potentially upset you. SPI believes that feelings are sometimes misleading thereby rendering Emotional Intelligence null and void. If you are a College student and find yourself questioning politically correct social norms in an alter world incubator then you might find it quite rewarding to return to this site for some sarcastic sanity. You are never alone. There are still rugged individuals in America who don’t want to live with their parents the rest of their adult lives. Don’t let College Collectivism ruin your imagination and unique talents. Think about this as your investment or if your parents funded it, their investment.

North Idaho college can’t find enough students to become Millwrights. The National average pay is around $53 thousand per year. That’s better than a $15 an hour mandated Washington State “Living Wage”, which is where most college grads will likely end up. So there is a payoff or a greater possibility of financial gain in Millwrighting.

You, the “student consumer”, are paying for a product that you should know something about. Some course studies are very questionable. Eastern Washington University offers a Gender Studies Certificate but don’t waste your time trying to find out what that pays. Maybe that course should be “Bernie Sanders” free since it’s logical monetary statistical value can not be found. In 2014 the 56% of students at EWU were female and 77% of the total student population are listed as receiving financial assistance.

Maybe College isn’t the answer for achieving prosperity. Especially when “only about a third of U.S. high school seniors are prepared for college-level coursework in math and reading“. Maybe the best potential for a good future is self reliance and hard work. Perhaps self study and apprenticeship? College students already have an alarming suicide rate so why take on a financial burden if there are no jobs available? Perhaps you could go online and learn some valuable skills for free.

I’m a liberal professor, and my liberal students terrify me

I’m a professor at a midsize state school. I have been teaching college classes for nine years now. I have won (minor) teaching awards, studied pedagogy extensively, and almost always score highly on my student evaluations. I am not a world-class teacher by any means, but I am conscientious; I attempt to put teaching ahead of research, and I take a healthy emotional stake in the well-being and growth of my students.

Things have changed since I started teaching. The vibe is different. I wish there were a less blunt way to put this, but my students sometimes scare me — particularly the liberal ones.

If you are a Jewish student or even a Christian student you may want to consider that the college environment may not be a “safe place” these days as Anti-Semitism spikes on U.S. campuses.
